About Colsterworth Rare Breed Poultry
Poultry breeder and animal lover Vivienne Cairns established Colsterworth Rare Breed Poultry in 2007. We stock over 150 different types of chicken, and offer fully grown birds, eggs for hatching, and a wide range of care products, accessories, and medication.

All our chickens are free range, fully wormed, and kept on a three acre open site to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Separated into their different breeds, they enjoy comforts such as wendy house accommodation, and the very best chicken feed.
We do not allow inbreeding at Colsterworth Rare Breeds. This keeps our flock varied and reduces the risk of disease. We boast a 96% hatch rate and stock up to 1000 birds at any given time.
We breed birds to the highest standards and register them with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affiars (DEFRA). Our chickens are ideal for meat or laying eggs, and decorative, ornamental, or exhibition purposes. They also make excellent pets!
In addition to an extensive chicken flock, we also keep two greedy Kune Kune Sow pigs called Molly and Nora, who eat everything and anything. Plus three pigmy goats named George, Bob, and Gary, and Harry the pot-bellied pig. Harry is rumoured to be the meanest, worst tempered pig in the world, but we do love him!
Vivienne Cairns has kept chickens for over 20 years. Previous to starting Colsterworth Rare Breeds Poultry, she worked as a chicken consultant at Central Wool Growers (CWG) in Stamford, Lincolnshire. CWG supplies goods and services to the farming and agricultural industries.
